Marion County VINE Coverage
Illinois VINE is a free custody and court-status information and notification system. Official sources support IDOC custody changes and Illinois court or custody functions. They do not publish a static county-by-county list proving current Marion County Jail coverage. Confirm the jail in the live agency selector or call the sheriff before relying on local alerts.
VINE supports release, transfer, escape, and court-event alerts. It does not replace the Federal Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator. A person moved from Marion County Jail to another custodian may vanish from a local stream without returning to the community.
The Illinois portal screenshot below identifies the correct state search and registration service.

The portal is a notification source, not a durable archive of every Marion County release.
Search Marion County VINE Records
Gather the full booking name, date of birth, offender or booking identifier, arresting agency, and last known facility. Name alone is not a safe match.
- Open Illinois VINE and choose the custody or offender search.
- Enter the name or offender identifier with the most exact facts available.
- Compare identity details and the reporting agency with the known Marion County case.
- Open the correct record and read custody status, location, and event together.
- Save the event time and source, then contact that agency to confirm release versus transfer.
If IDOC reports `PAROLE` with a parole date, the person left state prison for supervision. That is not final sentence discharge. If Marion County Jail reports the event, ask the sheriff for its exact timestamp and destination.
Marion County VINE Release Fields
The live display varies by reporting agency. Read each available field in context and do not turn one custody event into a broader claim.
| Field | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| Identity | Helps match the person; verify another identifier. |
| Reporting agency | Shows which custody system supplied the data. |
| Custody status | States the agency's reported status, subject to lag. |
| Location | May identify a facility or supervision area. |
| Release or transfer event | Shows a change, not necessarily community freedom. |
| Event date | Should be checked against the official release record. |
For exact proof that someone left Marion County Jail, use the sheriff's chronological arrest entry. Illinois FOIA ยง2.15 includes the time and date an incarcerated arrestee was discharged or transferred. A court order explains authority; VINE can corroborate the event.
Register for Marion County Release Alerts
Register only after the identity and agency match. Choices may include phone, text, email, or app, depending on the record. Registration is confidential, and official material says the person is not told who registered.
- Open the verified record and choose registration or notifications.
- Select each available contact channel that fits the need.
- Enter the phone number, email address, or app details accurately.
- Create a four-digit PIN for automated phone calls.
- Enter that PIN when a call arrives to acknowledge it; email does not require the PIN.
- Preserve the alert and verify the destination with the reporting agency.
Support is available around the clock at (866) 566-8439, with TTY at (866) 847-1298. IDOC Victim Services can assist at (877) 776-0755. Those lines support notification; they do not replace the custody record.
Confirm Marion County VINE Events
Data can lag, agency participation varies, and an older released result may not remain searchable. A missing result is not proof that release occurred. Save a notice when it arrives, but confirm it with the office that owns the record.
For a county event, call (618) 548-2141 and ask whether the person was discharged to the community or transferred, plus the time, reason, and destination. For IDOC, distinguish `IN CUSTODY`, `PAROLE`, projected dates, and final discharge. The full route appears in the Marion County released-inmate search.
Marion County Custody Boundaries
County jail, state prison, federal detention, and immigration detention produce separate records. VINE's strongest documented local layer is Illinois state custody and court notification. Marion County Jail must be verified live; BOP and ICE require their own official tools.
| Custody | Primary check | Release evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Marion County Jail | Sheriff app, phone, jail record | Discharge time and release type |
| IDOC | IDOC search and VINE | `PAROLE` plus parole date, or discharge order |
| Federal | Federal docket and BOP locator | BOP release date, limited to BOP custody |
| Immigration | ICE ODLS | ICE custody or recent released result |
A transfer between rows is continued custody. Verify the receiving agency before describing the person as released.
Marion County PRB Notification Layer
The Illinois Prisoner Review Board Victim Services offers separate registration for parole or mandatory supervised release, electronic detention, work release, transfer, furlough, death, escape and apprehension, discharge orders, and hearings. This layer applies to state supervision, not an ordinary county-only jail stay.
A PRB notice and a VINE alert may describe related events, but neither proves final discharge unless the underlying record says so. A projected discharge date remains a forecast. An actual PRB or IDOC discharge order and matching court entry can establish sentence satisfaction.
Follow Up on Marion County Alerts
A release alert should start a verification sequence. First identify which agency sent it. For Marion County Jail, ask the sheriff whether the event was discharge to the community, transfer to IDOC, pickup by another county, or movement under federal authority. Request the exact date and time, release category, and receiving agency. Those facts prevent the common error of treating every departure as freedom from custody.
Next, compare the event with Marion County's court record. Judici can show a dismissal, pretrial-release order, probation order, sentence, warrant, or other docket entry that explains the legal basis. The court order does not replace the jail timestamp. It can be entered before physical processing ends, and another hold can prevent the person from leaving.
If the case shows an IDOC sentence, wait for intake processing and use the state offender search. A confined profile with a projected date means custody continues. A `PAROLE` status with a parole date supports release from prison to supervision. For an older completed state record that no longer displays, use IDOC's archived `Record Search` contact route rather than treating no result as proof of no custody history.
When a notice appears wrong, save the screen, event time, identity fields, and reporting agency. Contact VINE support about notification operation and the source agency about the underlying data. The agency owns the custody record and is the proper source for correction or a stable copy.
Telephone notifications require acknowledgment through the four-digit PIN created at registration. Without acknowledgment, the automated system may continue its call attempts. Email does not use that PIN. Check contact details when registering because an old phone number or a mistyped email can prevent delivery even when the custody event was correctly reported.
VINE should also be distinguished from a release-date calculator. A confined IDOC record may carry a `Projected Parole Date` and `Projected Discharge Date`, but those are current projections. Sentence credits, disciplinary action, program credit, custody credit, court changes, and multiple sentences can alter them. Registering for notice is the better way to learn when the reporting agency records an actual event.
A federal contract detainee is especially important in Marion County because the jail houses USMS prisoners. Movement from the local jail may be a federal transport. USMS has no public release locator comparable to VINE, so use the federal court docket and BOP locator when the jail identifies federal custody. BOP `Released` or `Not in BOP Custody` answers only whether BOP still holds the person.
Marion County Immigration Alert Limits
For a possible immigration handoff, use ICE only when the case facts support that path. ICE's locator covers current detainees and people released from ICE custody within its recent searchable window. A missing ICE result after that window is inconclusive. No official source established an ICE contract at Marion County Jail, so immigration custody should never be presented as the routine explanation for a local disappearance. Ask the sheriff whether ICE was the receiving agency before changing search systems.
